Château de Millet Distillery – Brief History
Le Château de Millet is located in Eauze, Gers, Gascony, right in the heart of Armagnac. Previously dedicated to mixed farming and Armagnac production, the estate now produces Côtes de Gascogne, “Domaine de Millet” wines on 90 hectares.
The vineyard winds through the green hills, north-west of Eauze, where the sandy and clayey soils meet the so-called “sables fauves” which are sandy soils. This specific Bas-Armagnac soil is renowned for its delicate and fruity spirits.
The owners, Francis and Lydie Dèche perpetuate the work of five generations, undertaking highly qualitative work: traditional blending of the vines, integrated cultivation of the vineyard and constant evolution of the methods and means of winemaking. With Laurence, their daughter, who joined them in 1999, they market a range and variety to discover
As soon as it comes out of the still, the distillate is placed in 400 liter oak barrels for slow maturation that lasts dozens and dozens of years.
